Sunder Michelle

Founder & Teacher Music Together Vashon

I was blessed to be born into a musical family that played, sang and celebrated music. I have fond memories of dancing to Skip to My Lou in the light of the kitchen skylight as my Mom worked nearby. We brought our songbooks on car rides and camping trips; music was my constant companion.

I have wandered through instruments as I grew: piano, woodwinds; Clarinets to Bassoon, Sousaphone, Steel Drums, Harmonium, African Drum & Dance, Voice & Silence.

My passion for families making Music Together® fueled my heartfelt attachment to participating in Music Together wherever we lived as my children were in the 0-5 age range.  And now my passion has allowed me to fulfill my dream of offering Music Together in my own community: to foster relationships to one another, with music and within families.

Music is many things to me- joy making- emotionally expressive- storytelling- comforting- a companion- a meditation - legacy - what is music not?

Music is not performance, comparison based, or based on talent. Music is something we all have within us - and providing an environment for adults and little ones to explore and play with music without judgement or rigid instruction- instead an emphasis on participation, inclusion and modeling - give us all an opportunity to enliven music in our lives.

I have been mothering, homemaking and being the participant for the last many years. As my angels grow more indepenedent I have an opportunity to bring to my community a sacred part of my early mothering experience. The time I spent in Music Together classes, jamming with the CD (back then) and laughing with other parents & grownups was a joyous ritual I always looked forward to.

I live by a favorite saying from Zimbabwe, "If you can talk you can sing, If you can walk you can dance." Come join me ~ lets make music together without judgement, comparison or competition. Making music the joyous way!
